PADI Open water Course

PADI Open Water Course

Book this Course

If you’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive this is the best place to start. In this course you will learn the basic theory behind scuba diving, practice scuba diving skills in a pool and then put your new found skills into practice in the sea.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world’s most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous diving lifestyle.

What You Learn

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development: working through the PADI Open Water Ultimate crew pack prior to the course to give you a basic understanding of what diving is all about.
  • Pool Dives to learn and practice basic scuba skills with your instructor.
  • Open Water Dives that give you the opportunity to put your newly learned skills into practice and show that you are ready to begin your underwater adventure as a fully qualified PADI Open Water Diver!

If you’ve tried diving through a Discover Scuba Diving experience with us, the skills you learned can be credited towards a portion of the full PADI Open Water Diver course certification, or you can choose to complete them again, and get another dive into the bargain.

All PADI courses are performance based which means there are no time limits on progressing – once you have shown that you are happy with a skill, we can move on to the next one. And if something is proving a little tricky, then we will spend more time practicing that to make sure that you are completely comfortable before moving on.

Prerequisites

  • Be 15 years old to take part in a PADI Open Water Diver course
  • Be at least 10 years old to take a PADI Junior Open Water Diver course (As adult and junior courses are the same, junior certification can be upgraded as soon as you are 15. The only difference between the certifications is the depth that you are certified to dive to).
  • Read all five chapters of the Open Water Diver manual, watch each accompanying section from the Open Water DVDs and complete all five knowledge reviews prior to the start of the course.
  • Be able to swim 200m and tread water for 10 minutes.
